Default 2001 E46 M3--both door windows non-operational

I just retrieved my M3 from the paint/body shop today, had a small job done on the rear bumper/license plate are--small job.

Well, now both windows are stuck in the up position, and won't lower. The motor on both will try to start, but they just don't lower. Also, now only the drivers side window will lower a bit when opened and closed (air pressure relief feature) but the passenger door does not do it any longer.

The rear quarter windows act normally.

I checked the 2 window fuses, they are fine.

The paint shop pulled my battery cable, wonder what has happened.

Any ideas out there? They offered to try to fix it, and I'm returning it to them tomorrow, but I'd like to be armed with some info to begin with. Maybe I can fix it here...??

Thanks,
Greg in Houston

Perhaps they might respond to a reset. Can't remember the exact sequence but you end up holding the window switch down for 10 or 15 secs once you've cycled the window up and down. There's sure to be a result from a thread search.

Cheers

Default problem solved....

Okay, problem solved... Really stupid that I didn't notice, but what happened was, the paint guy masked off the whole car and apparently he left a bit of the window, just above the molding, exposed, so a thin line of paint got on it. It dried hard, and prevented the windows from moving. After driving it for a bit this evening, I guess the vibrations allowed the windows to break free and be movable by the motors...

I'm taking it in tomorrow to have them remove the paint off the windows..

Sorry to waste thread space on this..

Greg
