Default Inspection II Advice

Hey guys, searched but only came up with extended warranty issues and nothing on voiding them. I got a 05 M with almost 50k on the clock.

In any case I need some advice on a inspection 2 coming up, 3k miles away. I am still under extended warranty and do not want to void it if the techs see something they don't like and don't want to cover bc of it.
My car is virtually stock with the exception of the following, a MS panel filter, MS elbow and tubing to the intake from the CSL bumper hole, and some RPI scoops.

Question is should I take all those pieces off and put the OEM pieces back on before bringing it in? Or you think they will let me get away with having them on.

If someone has been in this situation please post, I would greatly appreciate it.

who backs the warranty? CPO? if that is the case, then it's probably worth the time to pull the parts off. But, if that is the case, the bigger question is why are you going to the dealer for I2? Go to an indy shop and save some $$, or better yet, DIY, and save more $$!

CPO does not cover maintenance, only the Extended Maintenance plan does. So, if you don't have ext. maintenance, you'll just be paying the normal price for Inspection 2, and your aftermarket parts will have no effect on whether or not they perform the maintenance.

If you DO have the extended maintenance plan, the parts still shouldn't matter - just make sure you tell them not to throw away your MS air filter and replace it with stock (even though that might be a good idea ).

If you're just worried about them noticing your aftermarket stuff, making notes about it, and then denying CPO repairs if needed in the future, I personally wouldn't worry about it. Except for your MAF potentially going bad, I can't imagine many failures that would be affected by your parts.

Thank you sir, I keep getting confused about this warranty thing in terms of the expressions used. I believe CPO is only for the original owner which i am not. I am the 2nd owner and it must be extended warranty he had that got passed on to me when i purchased the vehicle. Either way i know I don't have to pay a dime for the inspection 2, bc the extended is not up till july 11'.

Have you personally had aftermarket parts on while having a dealership perform services under warranty? Or are you just saying you don't think they would care?

I think he's saying with your particular parts, they are not likely to care. If you are worried about them tossing out your aftermarket filter, just tell them not to change it.

Warranty != maintenance
CPO = certified pre-owned
Third party warranty = coverage by party other than you or BMW

cpo warranty follows the car regarless of how many owners it has had.

like some said cpo warranty does not cover maintenance work.
