A long Time ago I think I read a post saying that all cars with BMW assist, SOS (same thing, right) have their own phone number. so If you can find that number, people can just call that number and you will be able to answer the phone in your car.
does anyone know if this is true or not? If so how does this work?? ![]() btw, whats inside this thing? can I open this? ![]()

Not sure about incoming number, but you can open it...buttons to make calls or for roadside assistance I believe...not in car so can't tell right now.

Does the SOS feature require activation?

Don't do it. Remember what happened that time you wondered what was in the "Beyond" section of Bed Bath & Beyond? The same thing will happen.

I'm gonna bump this up until someone knows how to retract the number and use it. lol
Or I have a hunch that you can use it only while you have the subscription.

I'll start a little off topic and revert back to OPs ? but I have the same mirror. when your mirror fails (it will, and if not maybe good info for others!) and the dimming fluid starts to leak out of it, (it will leak out that little tab you questioned) immediately take it off and open that taband turn the mirror on its side so that is on the bottom. you will know it is starting to fail when you notice a fog/haze appearing and you can't remove it. I used a CVS bag/towel to cover it each night until it failed on the way to work 1 morning. have had it back up since and other then no dim and a dirty looking RV mirror, no problems. I only mention it cus replacing my RV on the M isn't a high priority right now. in reference to the phone #, wouldn't it all depend on where you are living? Or are you saying you heard that the # is hardwired to the car no matter what state/region you register/own it in? And as others have mentioned, that liquid is evil ****. 1 drop ate a spot on my passenger seat to the point the leather frayed and 1 drop on the M3Forum calendar ate right through the ink/paper.
