Exactly that.

Can you get away driving on summer performance tires in the winter? Yes.

Does it make it a good idea? No.

It is just not worth it. Get dedicated winter tires.

Just put about 5 60 lbs sand bags in the trunk and you'll be fine man. I haven't had any snow experience in my M3 since I just got it but I drove my 350z in the snow which is just as bad and with 300 pounds of sand in my trunk I was driving up the hill with my summer tires on 5 inches of snow.c

That's a terrible idea.

Winter setup or don't go out. Stock 18's and winter tires.

Anyway, welcome. But driving an M3 in NYC? Everytime I go up there in my car I can't imagine actually owning one in the city.

Westchester NY over here :hi: My M3 stays parked indoors all winter. This will be my first winter using a trickle charger. I havent used it in the past and I had to replace my battery twice Im fortunate enough to have purchase a nicely maintained 97 Toyota Camry

I would just get a set of 18s and snows if you plan to drive in the snow... Sand bag is good too but you are actually hauling extra weight, with that extra weight, you're straining the engine and using more gas. I just sold my 18s with snows so no more snowy days for me in the M...
