Your photo says it all! I like the blue tape to save the road damage. With my luck, they find a way not to warranty something, Bob Smith. Have you had any warrantied work due to track time? I've got a friend trying to convince me to track mine.

The tape is to protect the paint and plastic. Some cars run with serious rubber, and chunks will literally come off and stick to your car. Obviously, no warranty will cover cosmetic damage.

Last summer I bent a rim at the track, and simply took it to the dealer the next day and got a new one (I have the optional tire/rim warranty). Of more concern is your car insurance. If you stuff the car into a corner, and they find out, they will NOT cover you. There is track day insurance offered the day of your event, which I would recommend.

Right and just as the F3X M3 is under development, your car is well on its way to becoming "outdated" and inferior. Get ready to pony up soon... or wait is your lease contract going to allow that?

All things being equal, weight has nothing to do with handling capability. It is the CG height that dictates handling. That is factual car handling physics

Hey, listen, I didn’t mean to upset E46 owners. I used to be one. But it’s an older generation car. Its outdated lust like the E30 and 1972 Torino.

I own both, but the E46 is the keeper.

This is a friend of mine, their car is very fast and I have had a ride in it around the ring. He may be driving with only one hand but he is a former DTM driver and can get away with it. I have ridden with him on the ring when he chased down and passed a E60 M5 in a E92 320D.

Sorry that is a bit off topic. If there were a like button I probably would have just clicked that.

Glad this thread got straightened out. I was pretty heated reading the first few pages of posts with people actually agreeing on incorrect info.

This thread was extremely frustrating to read... lots of baseless opinions based on "theory" when half the people haven't even driven the current model.

The new car is faster than the 46M, in every measurable criteria, end of story. Yeah, it weighs a little more, but it's all RELATIVE people. The wieght delta is roughly the same as the delta between the 36 and 46.... except that the 46 offers no real handling advantage over the 36 while the E9X flat kills the 46 in the handling dept., but you 46M fanboys conveniently overlook this. Stop bitching (or clinging to, rather) about how heavy it is. If you don't like it, fine, but for the love of God accept the performance facts and freaking appreciate what a fine automobile it is.

After all, it's an M3. It kicks ass. It's the model we all (should) love.
