I bought a BMW Motorsport 4.10 diff. REM polished from Rogue Engineering and I love it. First gear is definitely NOT useless. RPM's are 3500 at 80 mph, not 3750. Miles per gallon are not affected either.

This is awesome info, by far the cheapest that I've ever seen. Brand new to.

Good info lambo...just spoke to Jim too, I'm on the west coast and he told me $882 for the R&P 4.10's which are the new shot peened version and shipping would be free too. IMO still cheaper than most out there.

The new 4.10's part number is 33108321899 FYI.

Hey just want to pass on this info which I think is a killer deal.

Laurel BMW in IL
Kevin Hale
630-654-5400 (ask for parts dept)

He has 4 more 4.10 gear sets left in stock (none left in the US and Germany), $800 SHIPPED which is pretty damn good, these are the new shot peened ones.

I have been in the market for the past few months and have looked all over to buy a new gear set. I looked at Turner Motorsports, Diffsonline, VAC, Dinan, and a lot of different companies in Germany.

The cheapest that I found from all of these companies was Turner.

I could not justify spending $800 on a gear set so I started looking harder.

I finally found what I was looking for. Earlier this year BMW started allowing their Motorsports parts to be sold in the US. There are six dealers that are selling Motorsports and they can be found here: http://www.bmwusa.com/standard/conte...rtcenters.aspx

I bought my 3.91 ring and pinion from Bobby Rahal BMW for the price of $624 shipping included. I spoke to Jim and he was great. You need to have the part number when you call them. Part number for the 3.91 is 33127768525 and the part number for the 4.10 is 33127768526. Double check the 4.10 number because I am not 100% sure on that one.

FYI.. The Global Imports in Atlanta will not sell you any motorsports parts unless you sign a waiver that your car is strictly used for racing. I think that all of the stores are supposed to do this but none of the other's questioned me.

Hope this helps for anyone looking for a new gear set.

I live in Nascar country and my installer has a good relationship with some of the Nascar shops. One of the Nascar shops offers REM polishing and my installer is going to have the gearset polished for me. My installer is charging me $450 for the install and $150 to get the gears polished.

So the total price is $1,224.

Make sure that you choose an installer that knows how to properly set the backlash and to (paint the gears) so that you don't get any whine.
FYI, both of those part numbers come back to "gear sets" at getBMWparts.com

Price $677.77

I tried Tisher first and they cannot sell them because the 3.91 and 4.10 are Motorsports parts and only the dealerships listed in the link can sell them.
