OP is Richmond willing to build a few sets to test before everyone pays out $500.00 dollars for the gears?

I'm not paying that redicoulous price for a ring and pinion. Look at ALL the other options other cars have....$200-300 for a ring and pinion. I bet BMW only has $150-250 in the R&P.

Yes they will and I will be the test subject. But before they do all that we need people to commit and show some interest.

Richmond Gears have been around for a while. Strong as crap and they are quiet except for their pro set which is a drag race application. I have several friends with Mustangs and F body GM's with these gears and they are quiet.

So the first result to googling "Richmond gears review" was a BBB complaint.

This does not inspire confidence...

Nor does this post talking about recent failures in 4.10 gears installed at supposedly reputable shops.

http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/gen-5-...-10-gears.html

And here's another one from 2002, which hints at the company having long term quality control issues.

To balance things out, here's one of the few posts i was able to find where Richmond was being commended.

Bottom line, i'd suggest spending some time researching the company before committing to this group buy. Personally, i have no intention of playing russian roulette with a 3-4k repair bill just to save a couple hundred bucks.

Hmmmm that's interesting as Richmond Gears has been around for a long long time. Like I said they are the only ones to get back with me right now. I'm waiting on the people from Motive Gears to get back with me when they are back in the office.

Every company has their hits and misses, and i'm sure that 90% of the time they put out quality products, but that 10% where they **** up and don't own up is what worries me.

I was reading through and there were some mentions of the failure being because the crush sleeve loosening up.....that right there is an install issue and not a gear issue.

In all honesty though I don't think this is gonna pan out........we aren't going to get enough people.

I can understand your concern if you haven't heard much of Richmond Gear, but they are one of, if not the biggest name in gear manufacturing. Their products go into some of the most high powered vehicles and for good reason, it's been proven for years to stand up to heavy use. All of my jeeping buddies use Richmond Gear for their drivetrain parts, and as long as it is set up correctly, they're awesome. Improper installation is normally the leading cause of failures. Also, keep in mind, the individuals that post up their complaints often times just want to ***** about their problem or misfortune, but if their needs are met, don't give a single thought about commending them.
