It would be too expensive for the way I wanted it. I wanted to do the Tri color stiches on the pillars and the headliner. Also, with the holidays coming, I am already spending alot of money so I need to back down. I will cut my losses short at this time.

Good question, I have some samples of Alcantara and some samples of MicroFiber and samples of UltraSuede and you can't tell the difference, the other products are about half the price of Alcantara.

it may not feel or look different but how durable is the other stuff?

$100 a yard is not that expensive. Look at the cf fabric or film which is $35 for fabric a yard and more expensive for the film.

The "other stuff" is whats used on home and office furniture and gets sat on much more than a car. there has to be a reason high end cars use Alcantara and its not because its more expensive. I am going to do some testing on all the samples just to see how it pans out.
