Default Clutch Upgrade: Sachs Heavy Duty (HD)

Just planning ahead for a thorough transmission refresh and I've been contemplating the Sachs HD clutch kit (HD Disk & HD Pressure Plate).

This is it right here:

http://www.turnermotorsport.com/html...9.881864999978

I'm looking for a behavior as close to stock as possible, just more capabilities to hold more power as I would like to go forced induction eventually. Wanted to know if anyone has any feedback for this kit?

I have, although I would like to hear some feedback as to how driveable the Sachs HD is in comparison to HPF. I know the HPF is close to stock, but still has some chatter at low speeds. Not sure if makes the clutch pedal a lot stiffer either.

That's the key word," close " to stock, I used to run their stage 1 clutch, it was fine, but the way they advertise it is just too good to be true ! capable of holding 700rwhp with no chatter at all with stock engagement and drivability !

The truth is, it does chatter just like any aftermarket clutch, however sometimes it engages just like stock ! with no chatter / vibration off the line, so this comes and goes, sometimes it feels like a stock clutch but 80% of the time it's not.

Having said that, I believe with it's capability of holding that kind of power, it is smooth and a good option for whoever needs an aftermarket clutch, unfortunately you can't have the stock engagement/ drivability along with the aftermarket clutches capability, you'd have to sacrifice a bit of drivability.

The stock clutch is more than adequate for most F/I kits (S/C) out there, I think it can hold up to 500rwhp ! so if you're planning to have +550whp get an aftermarket clutch, otherwise stick with the OEM clutch, it's cheap and it does the job !

Remember, get an aftermarket clutch when you NEED it, not because you WANT it.

I think realistically I'm looking for 450whp, and no more than 500whp certainly.

Is there anyone here with 400-450whp that is on their stock clutch? If so, how many miles have you had it, and does it have any problems as far as reliability as far as the clutch goes?

Ask that question in the FI forum, but from what I've read in there, I'd say most SC guys (under 520whp) are using the stock clutch, and it has been working just fine.

The stock clutch setup on this car really is great from the factory!

I definitely like the way the stock clutch feels and engages, which is a feature I want to keep.
