Default 1 year: An absolute dream.

December 13, 2010

Today is the 1 year anniversary since I've bought this car. It went by fast and a lot of mod's have been added in the short time. But, I would like to take some time and summarize my thoughts and feelings on the 365 days I got to spend with this car.

Ever since I was a kid, this was the car I wanted. Ferraris', Lamborghini's, Porsches... they have always been dreams of mine; naturally, but the BMW e46 M3 was a car I knew I had to own at some point in my life. Luckily, I found a local gem that was calling my name. Now that I have had a good amount of time behind the wheel of this work of art, it has been nothing short of amazing. Handling is superb, reliability has been top notch, and the grin I get every time I look at the car has yet to fade. It really has been the most enjoyable car I have ever driven. I cannot say enough about it and how great it really is. I'm sure a lot of you know what I am talking about, but it really is just a dream. There really is nothing like getting up early on a fall morning to go for a brisk cruise with the windows down. Jumping in the car in August at dusk to cruise around town and see the car in the perfect lighting. Walking into the garage and seeing your M3 sitting there waiting for you or meeting up with fellow enthusiasts to BS and go for a cruise together. It's such an amazing feeling . I have driven more exotic, high-end cars than I can even remember and the BMW e46 M3 has been a favorite.

One year ago, I was in a pretty rough spot in my life. Buying the car was the best decision I have ever made since it helped get me up off the ground and gave me something to smile about. Now that things have gotten better, I can enjoy the car even more. The grin I get on exit ramps, checking the reflection on business windows as I drive past, the joy of giving her a nice good wash and wax, the compliments, the staring in the garage for hours, the thousands of dollars spent on mod's, the look...... it will all NEVER get old. A year later, I find myself doing all those things even more than day 1. I have yet to experience 1 hiccup in this car. And yes, it's an SMG. Granted I put on about 8k miles and it's a weekend car, it has gotten me to point a all the way to z and then back to b without a hitch. It's an absolute pleasure to be a part of this community. The meets, the friends, and the knowledge has made the ownership of this car even better. I cannot thank all of you enough for the help and inspiration you have all given me. Just wanted to say thanks to the moderators, forum members, friends, the FS thread (for great deals), sponsors, and everyone a part of the gear head community. Here's to many more years of ownership!

Here's a few of my favorite recent pics I took!

I feel like I could have written the EXACT same sediments about my ///M! The dusk w/perfect lighting..... the "brisk cruise", the reflection in the windows, I do it as well my friend! This is truly a timeless car. Great pics as well.

Great post. I completely share your sentiments, and, coincidentally, I hit the 1 year mark on the 14th! Aside from 2 separate occasions of small rocks getting into the e-brake drum, no serious issues here, either.

I drive mine every day. Here's to another excellent year.

Oh, and I'm normally not a fan of the murdered out look, but your ride is sick. I'm not sure I can remember seeing a black M with black wheels and black everything where teh owner had the restraint to not go limo black on the tint. Nicely done.

Yes, This!

I'm at 6 months, and the staring at my car after every drive has not subsided like I though it would. I don't think many car owners experience this, and even fewer understand it, but damn, I love my car. Good post!

Thanks for all the compliments everyone! I really appreciate it all! It's nice to hear many of you share my same thoughts and feelings towards this car. It's nice seeing positive threads once in a while on here.

Want to know the best part? The feeling never goes away. It's all about the engine. It just keeps teasing you every second of the way. Every upshift, every redline, every simple 30-65mph sprint. That's what makes these cars great.
