Default Temp Sensor

Please help me!! When I turn my heater on my temp gauge dips to the first dot. Ive change my T-stat twice thinking it was stuck open. The gauge also never gets to high noon even when the heater is off. I live in Dallas so its getting cold. I noticed in the summer that the needle would move to the second dot but it would come back to high noon. Any help is appreciated. 2002 Imola M3 95000miles

Are you still getting sufficient heat from your vents?

Ok, check your coolant level, make sure the bobber in the reserve tank is up to the top. If the level is good, its def the temp sensor. To change it, you need to remove the intake manifold. It's a very inexpensive part, just involved process to change one little sensor.

Thanks for the info. Do you think the Bentley manual will help me in removing the intake?

Is there a DIY on here?

Yes, Bentley should help, but I don't have one. There is a DIY for the intake manifold somewhere around here. You need CV boot clamp pliers to get the rings off. After that its just disconnecting hoses here and there. There's 2 or 3 on the bottom of it. Not complicated, just time consuming. After that - voila - the sensor is there for the taking.
