Ive never really been a stickler for nice interiors but Ive had my Vette for about 3yrs and it feels so cheap inside.

I visited an M5 forum a couple times and judging from the posts I read it seems the car is a maintanence nightmare.

The two other cars I want are a 996 Porsche or a E46 M3 and both seem to have self destructing engines. WTF!?
Every car has a high failure rate if you browse their forums. It's just how forums are.

e39s are pretty reliable, if you leave them stock. Modding them... doesn't always work well. Cooling system every 80,000 miles, clutch as it fails (40-120,000 miles, depending on how well you drive), MAFs every 80,000.

The car is mostly expensive in gas and tire usage, but that's true of most high performance cars.

+1

Bet you'd rather get chased down by a train than a cop. Gotta love the sig.

Default C5 or M3

I sold my C5 a few months back and picked up an 02 M3 just last week. Personally i dont notice the lack of torque, in fact im immpressed by just how flexible the M motor really is. My only regret is i didnt have the budget to by an M back when i picked up my Vette in the first place.

I've had my m for 3 yrs now. I would not be to quick to call the m3 a good dd. It has some severe short comings such as; engine self destruction, frame collapse, and definitly stay clear of SMG. (Its terrible even when it is working properly.)
1) My motor has been running just fine
2) My subframe is just fine
3) My SMG is working just fine. It is a dream to drive the SMG on the track, and I don't know if I'd trade for a 6 spd myself. If I pick up a 911T down the road, I'd get a PDK as well.

well, the e46 m3 isnt much different... its not as low as a vette, but it definitely is harsher than most cars, has more road/engine noise than you would expect from a bmw, and draws plenty of attention.

Default Re: E46 to replace C5 Vette

One thing you wont get in the M that i hated about my Vette was the prodigous amount of heat soak through the floor from the exhaust.
