Default engine failure

i have just bought 08/02 production. i have been reading about the engine failures at roadfly. scare the s*** out of me.

has there been any progress to rectify or identify the problem?

does this problem only encountered with late 2001 productions ?

i am starting to regret the purchase, maybe i should trade it with a porsche 911.

The problem effects cars produced mainly in 11/01. There are also some 10/01 and 12/01 build dates effected as well. Other then those dates the failure rate is what you might expect from an engine of this type. Let's face it you're going to see more failures from a 3.2 liter engine producing 333HP then you will from your average Toyota or Honda engine.

I'm no expert but from what I can gather BMW made a production change in 10/01 and the engines started failing. They made another change 12/01 that seems to have corrected the problem.

Don't worry about it!
We paid $60k+ for the car; just enjoy it! If it breaks, they fix!

Let me understand this, you are getting scared and regretting your purchase based on OTHER people's experiences? And all of this AFTER buying your car? lol just ENJOY The CAR! my gosh!
I would have thought having driven the car would wash away any "regrets" you might have!
