And it drives so much better now. I had my bear motorsports shifter assembly and akg DSSR installed today. I've been putting it off for a while so finally dropped it off at a very good local bmw/porsche shop (they are more geared towards track cars) to do it while I was in the office as I really didn't feel like spending my weekend under the car (yes I know getting old and grumpy).
While they did the install I had them also change the selector shaft seal, install my new tranny mounts (uuc black plus cups), do tranny fluid (redline) & diff fluid (motul). Used a new pivot and put on a new carrier to body bushing on the backside as well. So basically every piece related to the shifter is brand new. I already had a zhp knob. So my impression? Wow. I am very happy with this setup. Throw is about half of what it was before. All the slop from the assembly is gone, goes into gear firmly, with a slight notch. The shop's owner was also very impressed with the Bear motorsports carrier and AKG DSSR quality. Good vote of confidence from the guy who has multiple M3 and 911 race cars in the shop today and a Lambo with the engine torn out. For those of you who need a shifter setup grab a Bear piece before they all disappear. I'm another satisfied customer. |

Quick tip, get a new pivot linkage whatever it's called from the dealer first. Test fit the new pivot and the shift rod on the akg dssr on a bench. The first assembly is very tough due to tight clearances, so I put those parts together on a bench and moved them around a bit to help final assembly in the car. Other than that good to go.
