I still think the SMG Relay issue is engine overheat related and I will need a bit of convincing that this will solve the issue of failing relays, dropping gears, and the SMG COG light coming on...
I'll report back from time to time especially when summer months come and the constant stop and go traffic during my commute to work...

I think that is a huge factor! US cars have two cats packed tightly together kicking out a lot of heat and I do not doubt it plays a role in this issue. I'm curious to know the comparison between SMG guys that have aftermarket headers and those that don't and see which group has this issue more often.

You could solder the connections but I think that would be best left to those that have access to a lift. I know I would not want to try and solder sensitive wires while laying on my back under a car that's not too far away from my face, lol.

It's not that hard. If you're really interested, check out some YouTube clips.. it'll give you some great insight on it .

I've changed my relay twice, even changed the transmission fluid and installed a new temp sensor for the transmission itself but it did nothing for me . My oil and water temp stay right in the middle even with the a/c going full blast. The relay is only activated when it's time to prime and or pressurize the pump. Something was causing it to be activated too often... for me it was the temp sensor failing.

this looks like the GND point under the hood. just wanted to note that this will not remove the GND to the car. its best to remove the GND point at the battery terminal

Everything has been good so far. It's been in the upper 80s/ 90s lately and my car would have been severely going into '0' but since this resistor... no loss of gears. It's supposed to be 100+ this coming friday... more testing, lol.

I just picked everything up at Fry's. I rarely get dropped gears but figured this was worth a shot for the rare occasion it does happen. I really don't drive it in stop and go traffic much...

I wish we had a Fry's around here.. all we have is RadioShack which is not what it used to be. The resistor trick is definitely worth while, I hear it gets hot in Texas, my cousin lives in Austin.
