Well, not exactly. We have picked up a 70K mile 1991 (AW/Grey) that was in EXCELLENT condition. Really impressive. The point is to hold on to this until that "right one" comes along. Meanwhile, two low mileage cars have come along. The first was on Bring a Trailer last week with 14K miles (AW/Tan). From the outside looking in, it's a perfect car. But I'm very concerned about how long it's been sitting in a vegetative state. I'm worried it would take at LEAST $5K to get the thing running the way it should. But keeping in mind, this M3 won't be a daily driver but a weekend cruiser. So for $50K, I think it's a bit over priced for the mechanical conditioning that would need to take place.
The other was a 32K mile '88. Again, AW/Tan. Car looks beautiful, but oddly enough it's been sitting for a little while as well and I'm still concerned about the mechanical reconditioning required. I'm not an expert on these cars so that's why I'm getting scared away. From what I've been told (by everyone it seems), they are very finicky at this age and maintenance is CRUCIAL for them. I don't want a 14K mile car or a 32K mile car that doesn't perform like it should with that mileage. I just don't know....any thoughts or advice? |

Why not find a fully restored one? Thats been my issue with low mile ones that have been sitting for 5 or more years. My 89 has 135000 on the clock but I just completed a full ground up restoration on the car. So its a brand new E30 M3 that wont sufer that issues that come with them sitting for so long.

I bought my 30k mile car from EAG. They are great to work with and have several low mileage E30s coming in in the next few months.....
