Default Convertible Roll bar/cage ?

Hey guys,

I do not own a M Vert but was always curious to know if you can put a roll bar in an E46 M3 vert? Something like a kirk or raven bar? never seen it done but always thought it would look cool with a set of recaros and nice wheels. Anyone?

Thanks

Are you prepared to also change out the seats and add harnesses - as well as live with that set-up in a daily driver?

I am going to have a roll cage put in my vert. Its going to be made and installed by a company in Germany where my car is though. I drive my car daily and track it. the big thing that needs to be done for me is removing the rear seat, hardtop, changing out seats, and harness.

thats really funny how you mention that, because i just picked up my car from getting a custom roll bar done today. You can keep your stock seats in with a roll BAR. thats how i am setup right now. Im planning to swap seats later. Mines a bolt in so no you don't have to live with it forever and yes it still is extremely strong still.

No you can't just put any coupe roll bar in it will have to be modified. i know one person this forum has done it. m3dom i think it was.

This seems to be the exact setup you were looking for:

thats awesome. i appreciate the feedback. so with the roll bar being in, will your soft top still be functional? meaning automatically going up and down clearing the bar? when you get a chance post some pics!!

I want to know this answer too. I cant seem to find it. I am surprised the guy from NY in that link did not mention if he CAN run his soft top. I hate the idea of struggling with a heavy removable hard top. That is NOT the way i want to go.
I have to retain the USE of my soft top for this to work.
There must be a design of a roll bar that allows the soft top to clear it and open and close properly. Yes?

Is the bars removable? Can your seat out all the way back? And is does the bar doubles as a windscreen too?
