I'm in Virginia which requires a front license plate. On my 98 M3 coupe the holes for the front license plate are not the standard width apart, they're wider than the plate holes. It almost looks like it was meant for a euro plate. Anyone else out there have this? If so, what'd ya do? I really don't want to drill my plate, and every plate frame I've found uses the same holes that the plate uses... Any tips? (aside from going without a front plate, I've gotten 2 tix for it before and don't want any more)

I'm in VA and I don't use my front plate...but anyway.
Try flipping the mounting bracket for the plate upside down or backwards. This seemed to work when I first put mine on, but I took it off later anyway. I can't stand the front plate on my car. I got a new front piece of trim from BMW, the one that says BMW on it. So now I don't have any ugly drill holes and my bumper looks real clean. The part was $18 and some change.

Friends don't let friends mount the front plate.

Haha. I had to give in, as I got pulled over for not having the front plate se eral times. I'm in Arlington too. I don't remember exactly how I did it, but I do remember having to use some force to get it mounted on my 98 Sedan. I used the screws that came with the ///M license plate frame from Bav Auto and just pushed through the bumper with no hassles and no drilling... hope that helps.

Just drill two new holes in your front plate. That's easier than drilling into your car.
