Default M3 Differential 4.10 DIY needed

Can anyone guide me to a ring & pinion change on an e46 M3 differential? Buying the R&P is one of the easier steps. Finding all that I will need, seals, bearing, etc. Their part numbers and where to get them is not so easy. Finally, understand what's involved and the tricks necessary to do the rebuild, a DIY is just about impossible to find online.

I have purchased a used diff and the R&P. I would like to know what else I need. My plan is to change the diff and include a 3-clutch w/ variable ramps. I just think the $4k+ the market is charging is a bit overpriced.

Can anyone help?

It's really hard, from what I've read. Which is why there are shops dedicated for this kind of stuff.

I would buy the parts then just take it to a good diff shop and have them do it. I think it costs like $280 to get my 4.10 put in, plus whatever the parts were to fix my leak.

I'm trying to get the full list of parts, that's prob. #1. Any idea? Also, where can I buy a 3-clutch LSD w/ variable ramps?

I wouldn't recommend doing it yourself unless you are extremely patient AND experienced. There is a good bit of precision involved.

I have a friend who is a mechanic. He's going to do it, not me. But before I can have him do it, I need to have the parts and would like to learn it myself. He has done diffs, full transmissions, and not the least installed an LS1 into an E36 M3 - No small feat there. I trust he is very good around a car.

It just tells me no one has taken the time to do one. Or don't want to share the "secret".
