Default Part Number/Diagram Help - OBD Port mounting screws/bracket

I have looked through realoem.com and bmwfans.info and can not locate the diagram that shows the OBD port mounting. This is below the drivers steering wheel under the panel above your knees.

My OBD connector is just hanging loose, and I want to buy the screws/parts to secure it in place. Can anyone help with the part numbers, or better yet where the diagram is located in either of those parts databases.

Thanks for any help you can provide, I want to tidy up underneath my dash when I replace my clutch master cylinder.

Chad.

Default Re: Part Number/Diagram Help - OBD Port mounting screws/bracket

I had mine off yesterday. There are two screw clips (I'm not sure what they are called, but screw clips brings up the right images in Google). Those slide into the knee bolster and a couple of sheet metal screws with washers screw through the OBD jack and into the clips through the holes in the bolster.

I'm guessing it's 12 and 14 here, but someone will probably correct me. But I don't know what part 21, "bracket left" and "bracket right" are, so that's why I'm not sure this is the right thing. Honestly, a couple of clips and screws from any hardware store would do the job.

That is the diagram I was looking at, but I wasn't sure if it was 12 and 14 that hold the obd in place. Thought there might be a better diagram showing the obd port and how it attaches.

Do you have that knee bolster in your car? (#17)

It's a big useless metal piece, I removed mine for weight savings but then had to build a custom bracket for my OBD port. If your previous owner removed that piece like I did, then that's your problem. If you have that piece installed, then you'll see exactly where the OBD port mounts to it, and any screws should work. I threw mine out, kinda wish I had held onto it so I could ship it to you if that's indeed your problem. Good luck man!

Yes, I do have the knee bolster in the car. I didn't get a good look at the mounting points when i was doing my brake switch, and I like everything to be OEM and to use OEM parts/screws etc. I will probably take a quick look before ordering those screws.

Thanks.

I have the exact same issue so thanks for posting. My car is missing the OBD cover and the connector was just loose above the kick plate. I'd like to put it all back together as it originally came from the factory so let me know what you find out.

Thanks haus!!!... That is a perfect picture, and it looks like the screws and clips I ordered are correct. Should have the parts early next week.

Thanks again!!!
