Default WARNING: RE RSM's and Koni 1159S not compatible!

Ok, so I get my new Rogue Engineering RSM’s in today. Loving these things! So I grab the new Koni 8210-1159Sport externally adjustable shocks and mount them up. Then, a problem:

As you can see this shock, at least the ones I got, come with a metal cover that is quite a large diameter. When the RSM is mounted there is no clearance for the nuts, even if you try and start threading with the top plate lifted and the nut flat on the base. There is simply no way to make this work short of modifying something. I am quite sad but will have to move to one of the classic top-mount style RSM’s. Good news is I can just use my old ones, the better one you can get from TMS by JT Design, which are still like new.

Anyway, I know this shock will not be a very commonly picked unit, but just wanted to put this up to save anyone else the trouble.

Sucks, but thanks for the PSA. Such is the price of trying out "not so picked units."

Kudos for being a guinea pig. My RE RSMs and Bilsteins are a match made in heaven

Wait - are those 10mm mounts, or 12?

Because stock is 10mm...

Not entirely sure what I was looking at in the first picture. Is that like the Koni version of the bumpstop/plastic boot on the stock shocks? (dust protectors) or is it integral to the shock?

No you're right the bolts are supposed to face the other way

If those are bolts, not studs, flip em and run them up from the bottem. If they are studs, disregard.....

Rogue offers 12mm washers for the mounts to handle the larger diameter shocks.

Yes, sorry guess the pic is too close. The yellow part is the metal dust cover that comes with the shock. The shock body is larger than a normal OE shock and therefore the dust cover is also larger, and the fact that it is metal makes it larger still. I could take the dustcover off but an OE one would not work and would have to come up with something else. Simpler to just use a different mount.

They are not upside down, the Rouge Engineering mounts are a downward facing stud design with the studs welded to the top reinforcement plate. Can’t turn them over.
