Here are the parts I purchased from AA to effectively remove the "Snail" , MAF and K&N to mount the filter directly to the Rotrex SC. Not shown is the ram air pipe with Temperature sensor relocation, which you will also need. I built my own Ram Air but don't feel like getting flamed over it so will leave pictures out for now. I will also most likely just end up buying the AA piece anyway when I order other parts from them.
Here's what you need: 1) Green Filter (From Gen 6 / 7 ) 2) Filter adapter for the Rotrex 3) 3.5" Ram Air Pipe w/ temp sensor 4) Gen 7 SMG reservoir if applicable. I love this piece, very nice design and far better than the old power steering reservoir style. I also added a 42 Design Ultimate catch can. I noticed oil on the silicone hoses and inlet of the SC on the old set-up and decided this was a must have. The integrated dip stick is a very useful feature as well. Back to the topic... AA's testing has shown virtually no HP loss with the use of the Green filter as opposed to the "old" set-up. That snail is called just that not only because it looks like one, but it also makes your car slower as that complete set-up is a restriction. Not to mention the filter on the pipe problem that has been noted in many forums. Suck on a straw and you can figure it out. The longer it is the worse! Call AA for for updated pricing on these parts. |

I believe the whole point of the "snail" was for the charger to be sucking in cold air. Putting a filter in the engine bay like that, I would be concerned about heat.

I don't want to get into endless debates about which is better. If you are happy with your set-ups don't change them. Here is an option for those of us that like to change it up. This mod coupled with a Gen 7 intake manifold would be even better.

Thanks! I'd like to chat with you about your nitrous set-up as I have a kit that I want to add on to my set-up. I have a thread opened that isn't getting much action on the subject. You seem to have done it with no problems.

No problem. The shop did most of the work (installations), but i can share with you the design (eg. nozzle placement) and the implementation. FYI, i'm shooting 75 (although 100 is on the horizon, but nothing more), and using MS 109, and don't have a separate fuel cell.

I would like to know key things, like where your nozzle is (as you stated), jet sizing, are you controlling injection start via a boost switch or rpm, what RPM you cut-off and if you are running meth as well. Are you also running an intercooler spray bar? |
