Spring thrust kit is likely to be an ongoing PITA. When raising the front of the vehicle, the wheels drop leaving a gap between the top of the spring and the top hat. The resin and stainless washers are free to flop around off center. When lowering the vehicle down, it is more than likely that they'll not line up and get bent to sh1t. Ask me how I know The only way I could keep them from getting bent is to tape them to the top hat with electrical tape. If anyone has any better solution, I'm all ears.

While installing the thrust kit, I noticed that the caster adjustment had moved on one side. Used blue loctite on these bolts when reinstalling. Also, if you do move the caster adjustment all the way rearward as recommended by TCK, the top nut on the shock shaft will be right up against the rear of its slot in the camber plate, and you won't be able to get a socket on it. I put a socket on it before tightening the caster adjustment bolts.

Torquing the shaft nut was all but impossible. Without the camber plate you could use an 11mm wrench to hold the shaft and torque with a crow's foot, but with the camber plate this was impossible. I wrapped the shaft with a piece of rubber, and used pipe vice grips to hold it while torquing the shaft nut. Also used blue loctite on this nut.

FWIW, my advice would be to get the Vorshlag camber plate to avoid all of this BS. I am seriously considering doing this.

Great feedback and advice bud, thanks

though, fwiw, I have TCK D/A's with Vorshlag plates and I've recently developed spring binding at slow speeds over road humps. At this point, I really don't want to do something too drastic (buy, install spring thrust kit), rather clean and lube components of the plates and springs. I'll update the thread if this works and removes the noise; btw, what was the torque spec on the top shaft nut? Thanks

Forget hand torquing the top nut. Vorshlag recommends using air tools for the top nut, as do I. Always have, always will, always works perfect. This allows a snug fit without overtorquing since the strut shaft spins.

I'm still having zero noises or issues with my Vshlag plates, by the way.

I did just install 300/400 springs (replaced my 450/500) and the car is leaps and bounds better on the street, both in comfort and handling. Now the chassis doesn't move around as much - the suspension actually aborbs the hits, allowing me to focus on the road and driving.

If anything, I'd go even softer on the front, for even better "balance."

^ Noted, thanks.... always fun to get out the air tools

You reckon this would solve my problem?

Yeah, Vorshlag's modular design fits so perfectly for specific coilover applications with the utilization of radial bearings that any noise associated with their plates is most certainly due to a loose top nut.

+1 on using air tools on the top nut and no noise for me either with Vorshlag plates.

Just be gentle with the gun.... as soon as the nut bottoms, give the gun a couple more "taps" and it'll be good.

As for you problem - sounds like the Vorshlag spring perch bearings are not rotating freely, causing your bind. As far as I know these bearings are not serviceable.

You sould take them out and inspect - should rotate easily by hand. If they do rotate easily, then you have another issue I'd think. Maybe a loose top nut like Maveric noted.

Thanks for the help! I'll try this out and inspect the bearings & top nut. Thanks again guys
