The cause of the sag, if not the usual separation issue of the front and back parts of the door itself, is not the little metal latch on the door but the plastic catch inside the lock mechanism. I had a similar issue and fixed it buy getting a newer, better condition glovebox assembly. Not sure if some of the internal parts can still be purchased, but it is the catch and where it mounts that allows the door to droop some. Yah plastic!

Great info. Ya see my "leather" skin is NOT sagging OFF the door itself; everything in that regard is intact and stuff. It's the door itself that has some wiggle room in the latch area. I'll see if I can get a new latch. If not, then I'll leave it be.

Case closed.

It works best if you put the vent panel and the box together and then slide them into the dash as a unit... Not sure if that makes sense...
This. Same thing happened to me. It's easy to misalign the box upon reinstallation.

My issue was one of these little clips on the inside where the vents mount. The good news is that it fixed the problem until I tightened things up. The bad news is that after so many months misaligned, it will probably never close straight again.

How long have you guys been around?

Simple fix,

Remove glove box

See where the bolt, (the one and only bolt) goes through the glove box? Use a Dremel and make the hole slotted towards the front of the glove box so that when you reinstall the box, you can push it a bit further back, which will pull the door more closed. I', talking 1/4" maybe less...

Done.

Yeah, this works for some, but it didn't do much for me. I'm looking into replacing the latch catch, as I've heard that can help as well.

I can't tell you how to fix the door, but I can tell you how to minimize the problem.

I tried fixing my '97 and gave up. I finally just put some black electrical tape on the glove box behind the door. When the door is closed, you now longer see gray but black. Black is kind of a masker of all things 'evil', as your eye just doesn't see the space anymore. Not perfect, but an easy engineered solution.

Hm... well I'm guessing you have dove gray interior then. I think that is a cheap solution (no offense). However, it seems like that was your only route since none of the other solutions helped.
