Default MakerBot

Just got back from my friends house because...he just got a 3D printer!

http://store.makerbot.com/replicator.html

He also wound up with 12 bottles of high end scotch/whiskey but that's another story.

The makerbot is freakin awesome awesome. It can print any design within about 9x5x5" with a resolution of just over 1mm. They make water soluble material so you can dissolve inner layers. I'm going to try and use it to print a bracket for my IBus Tablet interface project (see journal). One of his coworkers said he used one to make all sorts of custom gauges for his car (don't know what kind though). He said every gauge in his car was printed on the makerbot. Sorry if that sounds like an advertisement/csb but anyone else on the forum have one of these?

I actually work for a start up company that does 3D printing. Our printer resolution is about .1mm We've had some great success with NASA for projects. 3D printing will def be an integral part of our future.

This is what our printer looks like
