I can agree. The total package and utility of the E46 M3 is tough to beat. Great performance and comfort with marginal compromise to either.
I still find myself wanting to get one again.

People who buy M3s usually like to do two things.
1) Use it as a daily driver. The E9x is more comfy and has more amenities -the adaptive headlights are fantastic for example; and the seats have to be the best ever put in a BMW. 2) Take it to the track; where the E9x's superior chassis is faster. The E46 was the best of its time and still is a fantastic "all-arounder" even by today's standards. The E9x took it to the next level. ![]()

Incorrect! He was referring to the advent of paddle shifters and how that's diluted the driving experience. Nothing to do with the E9x being a better/worse car. Try a manual E9x for size.
![]() The E46 will always remain a sure fire classic in its abilities. However, the E9x just took those abilities and made it much much better. Last N/A singing that oh-so-symphonic tune of speed.

the e46 m3 is bmw at its finest
-inline 6 -6sp -locking differential -utilitarian enough to take it to the supermarket, rip at 150mph on the autobahn, and do some wonderful lap times at the ring. |

People forget just how impressive the E46 M3 was when it debuted in 2002, it was competitive with 911s, and many other sports car marquees, such as Ferrari.
