Hi, have a slight problem here that just happened recently. At above 60mph when I brake (light or hard) my steering wheel vibrates/shakes. Also above 60mph the car feels "lumpy" like the the front end it not tight w/o braking. I have tried these fixes so far:
Replaced left rim (because it was vibrating w/o braking), vibrating stopped when not braking. Replaced both front rotors(today). I'm using Stoptech pads 10k). FCAB's were replaced 10k ago, along with Koni shocks. About 2 months ago, the right brakes were stuck, causing the the car to driff to the right and the rotor was very hot. I let the car sat and it was fine after. Could my calipers be bad. Do I need to "bed in" the new rotors? Thanks in advance for any advice. Last edited by ColoM3; Thu, Jul-12-2012 at 07:58:58 PM. |

if the brake caliper was sticking before.. letting it sit isnt going to cure the problem. If only it worked like that and things would fix them selves.
Your caliper is most likely still sticking. You need to remove the calipers and try to compress them back with a small C-Clamp or big pair of Channel Locks usual works to. I Like to stick the brake pad in against the caliper when compressing so I dont damage the caliper piston but thats just me. they need to move most of the way in.. dont move em them a couple inches and say its good. Ive seen many brake calipers push in about 2 inches then stop... If they dont move u need a re-build kit or new brake caliper(s).

Update:
So, I fixed the "lumpy" and partial shudder issues. It was cupped front tires and warped front rotors. The shudder issue is still there at high speed braking just not as bad. So, I was driving today and pulled the e-brake, the shudder was very apparent. I'm thinking warped rear rotors. Could this be possible? I've driven the car a couple times and didn't realized the e-brake was on. |

Our rotors don't warp. You might have had a pad imprint from your earlier issue - but imprints wear off.

I forgot to mention that I had Stoptech slotted rotors.

There is NO such thing as a warped rotor.
