I need to replace the front seal on my crank as I need to remove the crank.
As I checked the TIS is requires some special tools, I am wondering if it's possible to tap it slowly on all sides instead of having the special tool. If somebody has done that before please advise. tks |

The front crank seal is much more difficult to replace than the rear. i couldn't get it done so i had a shop do it. they didn't use the special tool....what they did use was the plastic cover that goes over the ball joints on new control arms (not sure if it was E46 or something else). The tool would be nice to have, but it is something that most shadetree mechanics rarely need.
