Default Do you think Ferrari will resort to forced induction with the 458 Successor?

I know it's too early to speculate, but anyways what's your guess? The 458's current V8 is probably close its limit in reliably producing signicantly more power. Do you think that the will successor will have a normally aspirated motor (whether larger capacity V8 or a V10), hybrid technology, or supercharged/turbocharged?

I can only imagine that with F1 going turbo in 2014 as well as increased emissions regulations that it will be inevitable. Who knows what kind of turbo technology will be developed from F1 though

F1 is going turbo-six though, so my bet is on a hybrid KERS system similar to what McLaren will put on the F1's successor.....only the Ferrari system won't do anything more than light the car on fire faster

I would have thought if they strayed from NA, they'd start FI with the new Berlinetta but they went with a 6.3-liter V12

Most likely.. Otherwise to keep with the power requirements they will need a 5.0L V8 making 650Hp.

I think they'll go down to like a 3.somethingL V8 with twin turbos making 600Hp odd.

They will probably go turbo in the near future, however Ferrari can pass along the added cost to the customer to stay NA without a dip in sales.

I agree. This sounds like the most reasonable bet. Especially if F1 is indeed going FI in the near future, everything else claiming a motorsports image will eventually follow. Ferrari will have the luxury of keeping some NA machines because their customers make it rain on em hoes.

Then again wouldn't heat and thus engine fires become more of an issue with turbochargers? I know that Audi considered using the RS6 V10 TT in the R8 (Thank God they didn't) but abandoned the idea because early test mules caught fire.
