Default ALCON BBK Now Available for E46 M3 :-)

Well it seems that AvalonMotorsports teamed up w/ Stasis Engineering and has produced an ALCON BBK for our M3's

I was speaking with them yesterday to get some info, this is what i know so far.

Fronts are 6- piston MonoBloc 360mm x 32mm fully floating $3595 list

Rears are 4- piston MonoBloc 343mm x 28mm $2595 list

Brakes clear stock 18" wheels.

They want to produce these kits in lots of 5, so if you want a setup whether it be front + rear, just front, or just rear, they will need 5 units to setup a production lot.

If you are interested in a Kit, drop zev@avalonmotorsports.com an e-mail. They are ready to take orders, mine is the first full setup on the list. I can't wait. Just wanted to let you guys know what i have found out.

Here is a pic of the front:

What are the piston diameters? Does it have dust/dirt seals or this a race only package?

The reason I ask was because I saw the other thread with the 8piston AP kit and that guy looks like he is using AP's racing caliper without dust seals? He clamped a 15inch rotor on the front, with a 8piston caliper and did nothing other than a caliper upgrade on the rear. Which totally upsets the brake bias.

Is Stasis racing BMW's now too, or just Audi's?

***************UPDATE*******************

This kit does retain the factory rear e-brake system.

The pedal feel will be much more crips, quicker response,
better reaction time. This all creates improved brake modulation.

Weight of the kits should be approximately 50 lbs. for the front, and likely
40-45 lbs. for the rear.

This kit will fit the OEM factory 18" and 19" wheels. It should clear most
aftermarket 18" wheels and most all 19" wheels (depending on offset).

The rest of the technical details are very similar to our other brake offerings.

*****************************************

That is what I just recieved and wanted to pass it along to you. If you guys have any other specific questions let me know, i will try to get them answered ASAP.

Fly'n DuthhMan, I beleive they are using dust seals, but need to verify. The kits are balanced as to not upset the car.

Okay, that obviously doesn't help much as it is subjective. I have all the piston sizes and brake torques firgure out for StopTech, and all the road going Brembo and GC/AP Racing kits. I tired looking up the Alcon calipers online but I can't find anything specific on them, typical arrogant British company. AP Racing has the same issue, but there site has some more infor. Let me know what you find out. Brembo's site is even more useless in terms of caliper selection, but at least their distributor is pretty helpful.

I can't really tell from the pics, but the Stasis kit doesn't appear to be floating hat and rotor right?

The pics i used were really to show the calipers. The rotors will be floating on our kits.

I am awaiting piston size, brake torque figures etc.

Some design info on the caliper.
Quoted from www.Stasisengineering.com:

These calipers are designed and built in the U.K using the same standards and testing methods as their Formula 1 cousins. Superior stiffness is provided by cross-bolted billet, or unique bridged monoblock construction. Further advantages include alloy pistons, precision retraction seals, internal weather seals, insulated fluid pipes and machined airflow passages for pad and fluid cooling. All of these features come in a comparatively small and lightweight package assisting in reducing unsprung mass and wheel fitment.

If I am not mistaken, this would be the first kit with road going dirt seals that uses a Monoblock. Granted stock 996 and boxster calipers are monoblock, but they haven't been adapted for BMW use.

Keep me posted, I am interested to know more details. If the pistion area's are same or less than 55cm sq front and 25cm sq rear combined with the more rigid Monoblock caliper there should a noticable improvement in pedal feel over stock and maybe even over the other aftermarket kits.

I wonder if they would do a rear caliper only upgrade for use with OEM rear US or euro rotor like Brembo has?

I think that would come later, right now they have put the time and energy in the full kits to gauge interest. If there is a good response, i don't see why they wouldn't.
