I could buy a Panamera Turbo, but I cannot justify spending the extra bucks of my hard earned money over say a CLS63. Price does matter even in the $100K range. Anyone who thinks otherwise isn't earning the money or has a fantastic net worth.
If you really wanted the Panamera though, it wouldn't be a concern for you. Let me put my point of view into different terms for you. In your other thread, you were discussing the mileage/performance of your ML Diesel SUV. IMO the Touareg TDI is just as great of a vehicle (if not more so, all things considered) for significantly less money. Now one could say "how is the ML going to sell when it gets worse mileage than the Touareg, is slower to accelerate, and costs significantly more money? For whatever reasons, you went with the ML over its competitors. The panamera is the same thing IMO. Just because they have similar specs (CLS and Panamera) doesn't mean they need to share the same pricing structure to compete (if it can even be argued that they compete at all)

The discussion I was having with greggb was with regard to the BMW Gran Coupe. All I was saying is that I felt that BMW had overpriced the vehicle and there's no reason why it should be priced where it is. The 6-series coupe is also overpriced, which is why dealers can't move them:

Mercedes is on a higher class level in terms of prestige than VW, so the Mercedes equivalent product (ML) are more pricey. BMW is on the same level as Mercedes-Benz, therefore there's no reason for the higher pricing of the gran coupe. Agreed?

Reading fail I thought you were both comparing the Panamera to the CLS.

I'll just excuse myself now...

$140k - $85k is $55k.. That's a pretty significant difference at that price range.

I'm not sure why people think being able to afford a car at $85k automatically means you have a limitless budget.

Race between 991 Cab and Boxster S. Stupid race because the 911 had PDK and the Boxster S a manual..
