Default SMG clutch life?

I was curious as to how many people on this board have had to replace the clutch on their SMG car and at what mileage. Also, what were the symptoms letting you know that the clutch was fried? Was it a gradual increase in slippage or simply a failure that happened very quickly?

I have about 37k miles and over 400 launch controls. Clutch is still good.

Most likely the SMG control unit will give you a fault and SMG service light will lit up. Fault code could be input transmission shaft not matching with output shaft = slipping clutch.

When checking out a prospective car to purchase is there any way to check how many times launch control has been used?

Most likely a trip to the dealer and hooking it up to their computer. I wouldn't worry TOO much about LC on SMG though since the US version is restricted. A manual on the other hand.. anyone can dump the clutch at 8k rpm.

I thought I read somewhere that using launch control so many times would void the warranty or something.
Is this true? For how many times?

Default 03 m3 smg

i have about 56000 mile onmy 03 m3 right now and have been starting to feel like if the clutch was slipping when i push the throttle in gear. I really think thats the end of the clutch and maybe might last another 5000 miles if i don't push the car to much. but try telling any m3 owner not to push their car to much. haha that sucks though. does anyone know the cost of a new clutch?
