Default New M3, SMG won't shift in Auto mode(PIC)

Just picked up my new M3 from dealer a few hours ago. Used AUTO mode level 3 when drove home and everything works fine, the car can shift nicely by itself correctly. Then I went for a short test drive around neigberhood in AUTO mode Level 3 again, but it seemed won't shift automatically anymore, so I have to upshift manually, but the indicator still shows 'D' which means AUTO, right?
did I do somethin' stupid?

Also just to share some pics.

oh no...
if it show D, it means, press to the right to go to D mode...... when you're in Auto, you'll see a much bigger D displayed to the lower left, and a little S to the right..

it's sort of confusing.. I thought mine was backwards too when I got it...

D? Hmmm. If you're in Auto mode, there should be an "A" on the bottom right of the displayed gear that you're in. If there is an "A" on the right of the "crosshairs" in that little display screen, that means if you move the shifter to the right, you will activate Auto mode.
If you want Auto... There should be an "A" next to the gear # and an "S" on the right side of that screen showing that if you push the shifter to the right you'll be in "Sequential Manual".

Ahhh, my apologies for complicating the situation further. Good luck.

'tis ok... you learn new things everyday... I honestly don't know why they changed from A to D... maybe one really bored Electrical Engineer got a hold of the SMG software?!?! who knows...

Acording to the Manual: while driving in AUTO mode and I press the two levers on steering wheel, it will change to S mode. But mine didn't, still showing D. I will have to practice a little tomorrow.

If you use the stick or paddles to change gears in auto mode, it will switch the system to manual mode. You do not use both paddles at the same time except to reset SMG but that is a different matter.

ignore the shift "Tree" and just look at the "Gear Indicator Display" if you are in Auto mode (D instead of A on 04+, not 3.5) it will show a small "D" at the bottom of the indicated gear, if there is no "D" shown there you are in "S" mode.
ANYTIME you move either the stick, or the paddels you will automaticaly revery to "S" mode.

the "Tree" can be confusing, since it shows the options you can chose, from where you are now, rather than which mode you are actually in.

HTH.
